Sterile Processing Technician Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health Charleston is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a 91-day travel assignment. You'll work 5x8 evening shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM with rotating weekend requirements and a holiday rotation schedule.

Role Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Level I Trauma experience mandatory
• Travel experience required
• Current CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification required

Core Competencies:You must demonstrate proficiency in sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrap procedures. Required skills include aseptic technique, biological indicators, high-level disinfection (HLD), immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS), scope and probe reprocessing, sets and trays assembly, steam sterilization testing and monitoring, use of washers and sterilizers, and sterilization wrapping procedures.

Case Experience:Preferred case experience includes Neuro, GU, Robotics, ENT, Ortho, Transplant, and GYN. You'll work with a broad range of surgical specialties including Cardiac, Orthopedics, Robotics, Neurology, OB/GYN, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Transplant.

Scheduling and Expectations:You may be required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities or permanently switch to CSC, ART, or West Campus locations as needed. The facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks as part of guaranteed hours policy. You'll be assigned to an Inclement Weather Team (A or B) with expectations provided by management.

Attendance Policy:No more than 2 callouts are permitted without a doctor's note; a 3rd callout may result in removal from the assignment. No more than 3 tardies are permitted.

Compensation:Weekly pay is $1,324.80 for the 91-day assignment beginning September 28, 2026.
