About this role

MUSC Health Charleston is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a 91-day travel assignment. You will work nights on a 5x8 schedule from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
  • Level I Trauma center experience required
  • Prior travel healthcare experience; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Current CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification

Core Responsibilities:

You will perform sterilization, decontamination, assembly, and wrapping of surgical instruments and trays. Your work will include aseptic technique, high-level disinfection, immediate-use steam sterilization, scope and probe reprocessing, sets and tray assembly, and sterilization wrapping procedures. You will operate washers, sterilizers, and specialized equipment including bronchoscopes, fiber optics, and laparoscopic instruments. You must demonstrate proficiency with biological and chemical indicators.

Case Experience Preferred:

Neuro, GU, Robotics, ENT, Ortho, Transplant, and GYN cases.

Facility Details:

You may be floated within scope to meet facility needs or permanently reassigned to CSC, ART, or West Campus locations. Floating to sister facilities may occur. The facility operates under a guaranteed hours calloff policy permitting up to 1 shift per 2 weeks. You are permitted a maximum of 2 callouts without documentation; a third callout may result in assignment termination. No more than 3 tardies are permitted. You will be added to the inclement weather team with expectations provided by management.

Compensation and Timeline:

Weekly pay is $1,254. Assignment begins September 21, 2026, for 91 days.
