Sterile Processing Technician Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health Charleston is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026.

Position Details:

• Schedule: 5x8 hour night shifts, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM with rotating weekend requirement and holiday rotation
• Weekly Pay: $1,254
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Potential to float within scope to sister facilities or permanently relocate to CSC, ART, or West Campus as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience; travel experience required
• Level 1 Trauma center experience mandatory
• Current CBSPD and/or HSPA (IAHCSMM) certification
• Proficiency in sterilization, decontamination, assembly, and wrapping procedures
• Experience with high-level disinfection, immediate-use steam sterilization, scope and probe reprocessing, sets and tray assembly, biological and chemical indicators, and fiber optics

Preferred Experience:

• Neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, orthopedic, transplant, and GYN cases
• Exposure to acute hospital OR, ambulatory surgery, cardiac, laparoscopic, robotic, orthopedic, neurological, OB/GYN, urological, transplant, and ENT specialties

Patient Population:

You will serve adolescents, infants, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients across a broad range of surgical specialties.

Attendance Expectations:

• No more than 2 callouts without a doctor's note; a third callout may result in assignment termination
• No more than 3 tardies permitted
• Holidays not requested in RTO will be expected work days if the facility is open
• You will be added to an inclement weather team with expectations set by management

First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. Ideal candidates bring strong aseptic technique skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma center environment.
