Sterile Processing Technician Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health Charleston is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for surgical services. You will work 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with holiday rotation. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with a weekly pay of $1,115 over a 91-day assignment starting September 28, 2026.

Your Responsibilities:

• Perform sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrap procedures
• Execute aseptic technique, high-level disinfection, and immediate-use steam sterilization
• Process scopes, probes, and instrument sets and trays
• Operate washers, sterilizers, and related equipment
• Monitor biological and chemical indicators
• Clean and prepare equipment including bronchoscopes, fiber optics, crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps
• Support procedures across specialties: laparoscopic, robotic, cardiac, orthopedic, neurological, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, urology, transplant, and plastics
• Work with patient populations ranging from infants to geriatrics

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
• Travel healthcare experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Level I Trauma experience
• CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification
• Preferred case experience: Neuro, GU, Robotics, ENT, Ortho, Transplant, and GYN

What to Know:

• You may float within scope to other areas or be permanently reassigned to CSC, ART, or West Campus as needed
• Floating to sister facilities is required
• The facility guarantees hours but may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• More than 2 callouts without a doctor's note may result in removal; no more than 3 tardies permitted
• You are expected to work holidays not requested as time off
• You will be assigned to an inclement weather team
• During hurricane season (June through November), you may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Parking is available nights and weekends for a one-time $20 fee
