Phlebotomist - Phlebotomist / Laboratory

Job Details:

• Friday through Sunday schedule
• Minimum 1 year of relevant phlebotomy experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with more than 3 years of experience
• Required certifications: BLS, CPT I, CPT II
• Charting system experience required (any system accepted)
• Perform venipuncture and post-venipuncture site care using vacutainer method
• Collect specimens using various tube types including gray, green, light blue, red, and purple top tubes
• Perform finger stick and heel stick collections
• Conduct point of care testing and report results and critical values
• Process specimens for laboratory including centrifuge, aliquot, and storage procedures
• Deliver specimens to laboratory in a timely manner, including chilled, warmed, and light-protected specimens
• Perform blood cultures, glucose screening tests, oral glucose tolerance tests, and peak and trough drug level collections
• Instruct patients on proper collection and preservation for laboratory specimens
• Use aseptic technique and adhere to standard and transmission-based precautions
• Serve patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Identify and respond to emergency situations as needed
• Perform data entry, proper labeling, and quality assurance and controls
• Handle hazardous materials in accordance with MSDS guidelines
