Phlebotomist - Phlebotomist / Laboratory

Job Details:

• Variable shift schedule with possible 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week
• Possible shift start times: 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM
• Possible overnight scheduling with 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM start times; overnight shifts are 10 hours with possible 12 hour shifts on weekend nights
• Weekend scheduling may be every weekend or every other weekend depending on census and staffing
• Collect blood specimens and receive, handle, and process specimens for laboratory testing
• Interact with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors including neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
• Receive, sort, and accession specimens, assigning to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow
• Complete computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry, specimen collection, receiving, and processing
• Perform basic post-analytic tasks including distributing reports and storing and/or retrieving specimens
• Complete quality-related tasks such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked, and safe work area, and monitoring pending work
• Escalate priority work as needed
• Operate and/or use basic pre-analytic lab equipment
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, CPT, CPT II
• California CPT II State License required
