About this role

Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Crisis Response is seeking an RN for their cardiac telemetry unit. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, three days per week, with a patient ratio of 1:5–6. This is a 182-week contract opportunity starting July 27, 2026, paying $2,232 weekly.

Schedule and Commitment

  • 36 hours per week offered
  • Every other weekend required, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week cycle
  • On-call required; frequency varies with patient census
  • Float requirement applies across unit
  • Self-scheduling available with leadership oversight; no block scheduling
  • 36-hour orientation required; full availability needed during week one for hospital orientation

Patient Population and Responsibilities

The unit treats primary cardiac and stroke diagnoses including unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA and TIA patients, and pre- and post-care for pacemaker implantation, ICD, and cardiac catheterization. You will manage typical unit turnover of 78–90 patients per week in a fast-paced setting.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience; cardiac telemetry experience required
  • Comfortable managing cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
  • IV starts, telemetry monitoring, PCI, pre- and post-procedure cardiac care, and TR band management
  • Arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, CVA management, heparin protocols
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, vasoactive drip titration, pacemaker management, and wound care
  • Experience with high-flow O₂, non-rebreather masks (palliative), BiPAP (chronic use), and Blanketrol equipment

Certifications and Requirements

  • ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS required
  • EKG testing required prior to start
  • Epic (Dimensions) charting experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted

Dress Code

Navy blue or white scrubs, or combination; Novant t-shirts permitted all days. Jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece). No Crocs with holes.
