About this role

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry position in Wilmington, NC. This is a night shift role working 4x12 hours, with a 91-day contract starting July 20, 2026. You will earn $2,626.56 weekly.

Role Overview

You will work primarily in Med-Surg/Telemetry with ED holding support responsibilities as part of the float pool. Your duties include caring for adult patients in the Emergency Department awaiting inpatient beds, covering medical and surgical diagnoses, and managing PCU-level patients as needed. Expected patient ratios are 1:6 for MS/Tele and 1:4 for PCU-level cases. You will float between Telemetry, ED, and Med-Surg areas as required.

Schedule & Requirements

Every other weekend is required. You will receive 12 hours of unit orientation and are expected to pass EKG testing before your start date. Navy scrubs are mandatory. Maximum 7 days of requested time off is allowed, and RTO after booking is not permitted. Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Competency in MS/Tele, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), and Rapid Response Team use
  • Colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, renal failure management, and blood product administration
  • Peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and heparin and insulin administration
  • Isolation precautions, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management

Preferred Skills

NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, pre- and post-hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draws, IV starts, CVA care, pre- and post-neuro surgery experience, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac experience. Epic charting experience is preferred.

Support & Systems

You will work with cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and standard monitoring systems. Electronic systems include Pyxis and Epic. Interdisciplinary support is available through respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. No on-call is required.
