Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Every other weekend required (if RN calls out on a weekend, they will be required to make that time up on a weekend)
• Block scheduling option available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday schedule)
• Patient ratios of 5-6:1, can flex up to 7:1 only in extreme cases
• Float required - travelers may be required to float to any other med surg unit within the facility based on census
• Maximum 7 days RTO pre-approved (no holidays); no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved and cannot be requested after signing
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with orthopedic experience mandatory
• First-time travelers accepted with Epic experience
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Required skills: IV starts, telemetry, blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, peripheral line care/management, surgical drains, total joint replacement, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, pre/post neurosurgery, high flow nasal cannula, heparin protocols, PCA, spinal cord injury experience, hip and trauma hip experience
• Preferred experience: Charge nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients
• Fast-paced unit requiring nurses to stay on top of pain management for ortho and spine patients
• Multiple pain medications administered due to high post-surgical and ortho population
• Strong customer service orientation required
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
