PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule working 3x12-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:00 PM–6:30 AM and 8:00 PM–8:30 AM
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• No weekend requirement
• On-call required: 24 hours of call per 6-week schedule period as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Float within service line as needed to meet facility needs
• Night shift nurses are expected to pre-op patients for first cases from 5:30 AM–7:30 AM when there are no PACU patients
• Manage complicated postoperative patients including multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• Recover surgical patients including GU, GYN, Colorectal, minimally invasive procedures, Bariatric, and some ENT cases
• Work in a Level I Trauma PACU and Separate IR Pre/Post area
• Treat patient age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience or experience from a Level I Trauma Center required
• PACU and critical care experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Required skills: Care of ventilated patients, dysrhythmia recognition and management, IV vasopressors, Phase I PACU, pre-op assessment, pre-op education, pre-op medications, pre/post IR procedures, starting and maintaining IVs
• Navy scrubs required
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
