Med Surg RN Job in Omaha, NE

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 55-bed Medical Surgical unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 17, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,364.

Shift and Schedule

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Weekend coverage typically every other weekend, with additional shifts as needed
• Holiday requirements: 2–3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for patients with joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
• Titrate infusions including Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; manage PCA pumps
• Maintain basic telemetry awareness while telemetry technicians interpret strips
• Perform hourly rounding and manage multiple admissions and discharges daily
• Float to other medical surgical areas as needed
• Support a diverse patient population, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese-speaking patients

Staffing and Support

• Work with nurse aides and patient care technicians at a 1:10–20 ratio
• Chart using the EPIC system

Requirements and Credentials

• Current BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Valid driver's license; you must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Pass an open-book skills exam on Friday during orientation with a 90% score minimum
• Two days of unit-specific orientation provided
• Cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit facilities
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are prohibited and refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
