Respiratory Therapist Job in Rochester, NY

You'll work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Rochester – Unity Hospital, rotating between acute and long-term care settings. This is a 91-day travel position with 3x12-hour night shifts per week, starting July 27, 2026.

Schedule & Requirements

• Every other weekend required, with at least 6 weekend shifts per 13-week contract
• Night call approximately every other week
• Patient ratio of 1:20
• You must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Scrubs must be any shade of gray or gray and black combination
• Floating required

Credentials & Experience

• Current New York state nursing license (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 1 year respiratory therapy experience
• Required certifications: BLS, RRT, ACLS
• Epic charting experience is a hard requirement
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital, LTAC, Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred

Clinical Scope

• Work in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Treat patients across all age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Manage diagnoses including CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections
• Perform airway management: endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy suctioning
• ABG sampling, ventilator management, patient assessment, and pulmonary hygiene
• Administer nebulizer treatments via handheld, T-piece, and trach collar
• Oxygen therapy including bag and mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula, T-piece, and trach collar
• Manage ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Operate equipment: Hamilton Vent, Servo-U Vent, NKV330 (NIV device), AIRVO2, Dream Machines, and V30s

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,159.14
