CVICU RN Job in Redding, CA

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 30-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM), offering $2,200 weekly pay.

Unit Overview

• Trauma Level 2 acute care setting
• 30-bed CVICU with dedicated charge nurses who do not carry patient assignments
• In-house hospitalist coverage 24/7, with respiratory therapy and pharmacy support on-site

Role Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with a typical patient ratio of 1:2 (approximately 90% of shifts) and occasional 1:1 assignments
• Care for fresh open-heart surgery patients and mixed ICU populations
• Float to telemetry or med-surge units as needed
• Operate GE telemetry monitors and manage ventilator patients
• Use Cerner EMR for charting

Scheduling and Requirements

• Self-scheduling with schedules made approximately 6 weeks in advance and subject to manager review
• Every other weekend requirement with possible holiday shifts
• Hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts during this assignment
• One day of unit-specific orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required

Required Qualifications

• Valid California nursing license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification
• Recent experience with fresh open-heart patients
• Experience with mixed ICU patient populations
• Proficiency with GE telemetry monitors and ventilators
• Dysrhythmia Test: You must pass a proctored dysrhythmia exam on-site on day one (pass/fail requirement)

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification

BSN is not required. Start date is November 17, 2026.
