PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours guaranteed per week
• 13-week contracts accepted
• Self-scheduling with weekend coverage required - 6 weekend shifts for 13-week contract or 12 weekend shifts for longer contracts
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• No on-call requirement
• Rotating float requirement when census is low between stepdown ICU and ICU units
• Pre-approved time off up to 7 days maximum; no RTO during first week and no additional RTO after booking
• 24-hour unit orientation; hospital orientation during week one with required attendance each day
• Black scrubs required (not provided)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted; travel experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Meditech experience required; Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, Stroke Life Support
• Required skills include: Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Telemetry, Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry on-unit and remote monitoring, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams, IV insulin protocols, Feeding tube care and management, Accessing/Managing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral line care/management, Phlebotomy, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs, Heparin protocols, Managing and titrating cardiac drips, CVA management, Substance withdrawal, Mastectomy, Surgical drains, BiPAP/CPAP management, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), Oxygen administration, Isolation precautions/PPE, Wound care/Wound Vac
• Patient diagnoses similar to ICU, excluding MI, GI bleeds, and DKA
• Unit equipped with 12-lead ECG, cardiac monitor in every room, and continuous pulse oximetry; no ventilators on unit
• Unit serves adult patients with a daily census of 10 and 12 beds available
