Med Surg RN Job in Hastings, NE

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 30-bed Med Surg unit at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting October 12, 2026, with compensation of $2,188 per week.

Schedule and Staffing

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Block scheduling accommodated when possible, with travelers filling schedule gaps
• Weekend requirement approximately every third weekend; flexibility expected based on unit needs
• Holiday requirement approximately every third holiday, with expectation to work one winter holiday
• No call or standby requirement unless you request or volunteer for a shift

Your Role

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6 on an average census of 20 private beds
• Common patient diagnoses include dementia, post-surgical recovery, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, and cancer patients
• May be required to function as charge nurse if you have applicable experience
• Float to PCU for Med Surg overflow or low-acuity PCU patients as needed
• Manage pain, TPN, CBI, and wound care; chest tube experience preferred

Unit Support and Resources

• Two to three nurse aides per shift available on the unit
• Respiratory therapy manages CPAP equipment on the unit
• Telemetry available with monitor techs providing read coverage
• Charting via EPIC

Requirements and Orientation

• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Two days of nursing department orientation and one day of on-floor orientation provided
• Dress code: any solid-color scrubs with no patterns or designs

Charge nurse experience is a plus but not required for this position.
