RN - Med Surg Adult

Job Details:

• Provide patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures
• Respect each patient as an individual and provide care that fosters dignity and positive self-regard
• Provide patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning
• Collaboratively plan and prepare patients and families for discharge incorporating support systems and resources as necessary
• Appropriately delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others
• Prioritize patient care effectively, including seeking assistance from appropriate resources and recognizing need for emergency intervention
• Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, policies, and procedures
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels utilizing the numerical pain scale and notify physicians as needed
• Complete required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD
• Interpret and document patient cardiac rate, rhythm, and configuration and initiate appropriate treatment plans
• Institute appropriate measures in life-threatening situations and evaluate patients with chest pain or cardiac-related symptoms
• Participate actively in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating patient care
• Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results and notify physician of changes in a timely manner
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment related to surgical patients including traction and orthopedic devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains
• Minimum 1 year of med-surg experience preferred
• Previous telemetry experience required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• ACLS certification required upon hire
• MOAB class required within 60 days of hire
