ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Whole House Float position requiring comfort working across all ICU, PCU, and MS units
• 3x12 night shifts scheduled from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning traveler may float 2-3 times per shift
• Day shift float: Could potentially float at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM
• Night shift float: Could potentially float at 11:00 PM
• One MS unit (Inpatient Rehab) is located at a community hospital a couple of blocks from the main hospital
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract; winter holiday contracts require 2 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, NYE/New Year's)
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• ICU average ratio: 2:1 | PCU average ratio: 5:1 | MS average ratio: 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
• Must be comfortable working with patient ratios of at least 1:5
• Epic charting experience required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience from a large Level I or Level II facility required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required clinical skills include: IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, central line care and management, arterial line management, blood product administration, trach management, non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP), ventilator management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), cardiac monitoring, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Must be able to work without CNA support
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Self-scheduling model
• 24 orientation hours provided
