Radiation Therapist Job in Altoona, PA

You'll deliver radiation treatments to patients under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist at Southwest - UPMC Altoona. This is a 90-day travel assignment working 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, with a weekly pay rate of $3,231. Your start date is August 24, 2026.

Your responsibilities include:

• Deliver prescribed radiation treatments and obtain localization images according to planned treatment delivery
• Perform treatment simulation, fabrication of immobilization devices and shielding, radiosurgery, and brachytherapy procedures as applicable
• Take measurements for use during treatment calculation
• Collect, document, and accurately input treatment-related data into the verify-and-record system
• Assist physician or nurse in administering contrast agents during treatment localization
• Ensure quality treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation of treatment records
• Maintain quality and consistency of treatment portal placement by taking portal images per departmental procedures
• Explain treatment procedures to patients and family members, responding effectively to patient concerns
• Observe patients for expected and unexpected treatment reactions and communicate findings to appropriate staff
• Reinforce patient education and side effect management information
• Maintain a safe and orderly treatment room

Qualifications required:

• Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in a JRCERT-accredited institution
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
• ARRT Certificate
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 compliance
