Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, three shifts per week; 4x12 schedule available by request
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• All RTO requests must be submitted with initial submission
• 1 year of experience required; travel experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Provide care for stroke and neurology patients in a PCU/stepdown level of care setting, with general medicine overflow
• Patient ratio is typically 1:5 with a staffing goal of 1:4
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and manage central and peripheral line care
• Administer medications including cardiac drips without titration
• Manage IV drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management including CPAP and BiPAP
• Potential procedures include chest tubes, trach care, PICC line, and MML management
• Apply isolation precautions and PPE in telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown units
• Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on unit; tele sitting implemented to support Patient Care Tech coverage
• Occasional float to another PCU or medical-surgical level of care unit within skillset
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
