Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work on a 37-bed Med/Surg unit caring for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory distress, possible sepsis, UTI, cellulitis, change in mental status, pain, generalized weakness, and abnormal labs
• Patient ratio of 5:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend coverage required with number of weekend shifts varying per unit need
• 40 orientation hours required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; travel experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Level I/II trauma experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS*, NIHSS*, 16-hour Maryland Trauma Course*, TCRN*
• Valid Maryland or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
• Required skills include but are not limited to: blood product administration, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care/management, wound care/wound vac, PICC line management, heparin administration, IV insulin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs, chest tube management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Special procedures include peritoneal dialysis (completed by charge nurses as needed) and trach collar suctioning as needed
• Special equipment includes PD, CBI, and trach collars; 11 beds are chronic trach vents
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
