Opportunity:

RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week offered
• Contract length of 13 to 26 weeks available
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6; must be comfortable taking up to 6 patients based on unit needs
• Every other weekend required, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period
• On-call required; frequency depends on patient census
• Float requirement applies
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight; no block scheduling
• 36-hour orientation required; must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; must have experience with similar ratios and acuity
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Epic (Dimensions) charting experience preferred; also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication
• Required skills include IV starts, telemetry, cardiac drips, PCI, pre and post procedure cardiac patient care, and TR band management
• Additional skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, CVA management, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, vasoactive drip titration, pacemaker management, and wound care
• Primary cardiac and stroke unit treating diagnoses including unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA and TIA patients, and pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, ICD, and cardiac catheterization
• Ability to titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone required
• Fast-paced unit with typical turnover of 78 to 90 patients per week
• Special equipment includes telemetry, pulse ox, high flow O2 (stable), non-rebreather mask (palliative only), BiPAP (chronic use only), and Blanketrol
• PCU/telemetry experience preferred but not required; cardiac tele experience is required
• Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs, or a combination of both; Novant t-shirts permitted all days; jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece); no Crocs with holes
