Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 5 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
• Holiday shifts required based on unit need
• No more than 3 shifts scheduled in a row
• First to float when floating is required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Charge nurse present on each shift; day shift also has an ADT nurse to assist with admits, discharges, and tasking
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:8 ratio
• Care for patients with total joints, orthopedic hip fractures, spine surgeries (lumbar and cervical), urology procedures, general surgeries, GYN overflow, and medical overflow including COPD, sepsis, and infections
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently; virtual tele techs available on unit
• Common drips include heparin, PCAs, and morphine drips; RNs are not required to titrate drips
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP (RT managed), and high flow
• Charting system: EPIC; EPIC experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience required
• BSN required
• Must be willing to work with students and may be asked to precept new travelers
• May float between Med Surg 5th and 6th floors, as well as to like units within Treasure Valley, including facilities approximately 8 miles away; may also float to ER for holds or as a 1:1
• 3 days of general orientation including EPIC training and educator meeting, plus online modules to complete prior to start; 2 shifts on unit with a preceptor
• Scrub color: any color as long as clean and professional
• Required certifications: BLS, EKG certification
