PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday rotation required as scheduled
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit)
• Care for higher acuity Neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EVD patients
• Strong Neuro experience required including history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH assessments
• NIHSS certification must be in hand at time of submission
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Titration performed by physician orders only; may include drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Telemetry on unit; RNs are not required to read strips
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RNs not required to have vent experience
• Charge Nurse available 24/7; nurse aides on unit at a ratio of 1:8-9 with 4 aides per shift
• Flexibility required for scheduling including up to 3 shifts in a row (not guaranteed)
• Floating may be required to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred
• BSN not required; acute care setting
