About this role

You'll work as an RN in a 29-bed Progressive Care Unit at Parkridge Medical Center, caring for patients who need intermediate-level care beyond a standard med-surg floor but who may be transitioning out of critical care. This role suits you if you have cardiac or telemetry experience and are comfortable managing complex medical, cardiac, and surgical patients.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct care with a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
  • Perform head-to-toe assessments every 6 hours with full documentation
  • Manage a heavy cardiac population, including post-ICU CV surgery patients
  • Administer and titrate PCU drips such as Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, and Precedex
  • Handle IV insertion, chest tube management, CVC management, tracheostomy care, and EKG interpretation
  • Place and manage Foleys, DHTs, and NG tubes
  • Manage wound vacs and support early patient mobility and ADLs

Patient populations you'll encounter: sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, CVA, acute and chronic respiratory failure, GI bleed, and post-operative surgical patients.

Equipment and systems: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab, and Meditech electronic documentation.

Schedule and logistics: You'll work 3x12 nights (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) with a 91-day assignment starting July 27, 2026. The unit requires 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Self-scheduling is available within reason, and block scheduling is offered for night shift. Travel RNs float on a rotating basis with the oldest float date floating first.

Requirements: BLS and ACLS certifications are required. PCU and/or critical care experience is essential. Navy scrubs are required dress code.

Compensation: $1,918.44 weekly.
