RN - Med Surg Adult

Job Details:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, care plans, and patient goals
• Provide patient care based on standards of care, practice protocols, and established policies and procedures
• Administer medications and intravenous therapy safely in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and policies
• Perform cardiac monitoring including interpreting and documenting patient cardiac rate, rhythm, and configuration (PR ST segment) and initiate appropriate treatment plans
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels using numerical pain scale and evaluate effectiveness of pain control measures
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment including traction/orthopedic devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains
• Provide patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning
• Collaborate on discharge planning incorporating support systems and resources as necessary
• Appropriately delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others
• Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses
• Proactively identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce medical and healthcare errors
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Telemetry experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Pediatrics experience preferred
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• ACLS certification required
• PALS certification preferred
• Must demonstrate mature professional behaviors including tact, empathy, and diplomacy
