Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Job in Charlottesville, VA

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a pediatric respiratory role within their children's hospital. This is a night shift position working 3 x 12-hour shifts per week at $2,337 weekly pay. The contract runs 91 days, starting October 12, 2026.

Role Details

You will provide respiratory care across the NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics units. Your patients will include neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients. You must demonstrate Level 4 NICU experience and be competent with the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A. Cardiac PICU experience is preferred.

Self-scheduling is available; your manager will work to accommodate your preferred schedule. You will be required to work every other weekend and every other holiday, including 2 out of 3 winter holidays.

Required Qualifications

• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• VA State License
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Epic electronic health record experience
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills for multidisciplinary team collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• ACCS (Acute Critical Care Specialist) certification

You will be required to work across all units of the children's hospital as needed. This role demands competence in pediatric respiratory protocols and the ability to function effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment.
