Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours offered per week
• 13-week contracts accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:3 required (aide present if 4 or more patients)
• 12 weekend shifts required per contract
• Rotating float requirement if census is low between step-down ICU and ICU units
• No on-call requirement
• Self-scheduling
• 24-hour unit orientation plus hospital orientation during week one with required daily class attendance
• Black scrubs required (not provided)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted but travel experience preferred
• Meditech (Expanse EMR) charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, Stroke Life Support
• Required skills include: Medical Intensive Care Unit, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV insulin protocols, intake and output monitoring, urine output assessment, accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, starting and maintaining IVs, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, respiratory failure, infection prevention, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Preferred skills include: GI surgery, acute kidney injury, chronic/acute renal failure, arterial line management, central line care/management, PICC line management, TPN/lipids, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, assisting with chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, fresh tracheostomy, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management, INR, phlebotomy, PT/PTT, and recognition of infection in immunosuppressed patients
• Patient diagnoses include: DKA, active GI bleeds, stroke, post-stroke respiratory failure, pneumonia, complicated surgical cases, CHF, and AKI
• Unit equipped with cameras in every room, continuous cardiac monitoring, continuous pulse ox, continuous temp monitoring, and ventilators
• Unit systems include: Pyxis, Expanse EMR, and SBAR communication
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and more
• Patients served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
