ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• Scheduling is per unit needs with no block scheduling guaranteed
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends / 4 shifts every 6 weeks)
• Staffing ratios of 2:1, with occasional 1:1 or 3:1
• Float required to other ICUs and intermediate units
• 24-hour orientation
• Scrubs not provided - navy blue, white, or a combination of both required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required - first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills: ICP monitoring, ventilator management, telemetry
• Additional skills required: arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patient, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, lumbar drains, management of dysrhythmias, post neurosurgery management, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, traumatic brain injury management
• Special equipment includes EVD management, ventilator management, Zoll temperature management/Arctic Sun, PCAs, and lumbar drains
• Unit systems include Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Caring for adult and geriatric neuroscience intensive care unit patients including stroke, seizure, and critical care management
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
