PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as an RN on a progressive care unit (PCU) and med-surg step-down at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12 shifts, working nights from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. You'll earn $2,102.40 per week.

Unit Overview

The unit includes 23 step-down beds and 16 med-surg beds. You'll care for patients with stable ventilators, trachs, chest tubes, and cardiac drips. Night shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, and 4 PCTs.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage patient loads of 1:3–4 on step-down and 1:4–6 on med-surg
• Perform trach care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes
• Monitor cardiac drips and manage lifts for patient mobility
• Document in the Cerner EMR system
• Float to other med-surg and progressive care units as needed

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Required experience with trach care
• Active ACLS and BLS certifications
• Previous Cerner experience preferred

Scheduling

You'll work 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week. Within your 91-day assignment, you must work 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts during a 6-week period. Navy blue scrubs are required per dress code.

You'll need flexibility and strong clinical judgment. This is a backfill role supporting the unit's staffing needs.
