ED - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Three 12-hour day shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call requirements
• No block scheduling
• Self-scheduling
• Patient ratios of 5-6 patients per shift including days, nights, and weekends
• Work in a 34-bed emergency department serving patients from neonates to geriatrics with approximately 116 visits per day
• Utilize Epic electronic health records system and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Perform triage, telemetry monitoring, and may assist with conscious sedation procedures
• Manage a wide range of emergency conditions including abdominal pain, acute psychosis, CVA, drug overdose, seizures, sickle cell crisis, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Administer IV vasopressors, blood products, and emergency medications
• Perform 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilated patients
• Handle psychiatric holds, suicidal patients, and patients with behavioral health conditions
• Float to units of like acuity or less if needed
• Charge experience preferred but not required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience required
• Epic experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS/Stroke, PALS
• 24-hour orientation
