PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 PCU; 1:5-6 MS/MS Tele
• Float required to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
• Unit systems required: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Every other weekend required (average 6 weekends per 13-week contract)
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• No call requirements
• Holiday work expected based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Key skills include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, central line care, PICC line management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, PCA, phlebotomy, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, lift teams, and rapid response teams
• Hospital consists of 5 MS/MS Tele departments, 1 cardiac telemetry department, 1 neuro intermediate unit, and 2 PCU units
• 24 orientation hours required
