Med Surg RN Job in Chapel Hill, NC

You will provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting at the University of North Carolina Health Care System. This is a 12-hour shift position available for 89 days, beginning August 31, 2026. You will earn $1,917 weekly.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process and professional standards
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs for patients with complex conditions
• Develop and update individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients and families
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required by patient care plans
• Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs
• Consult with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, or high-risk discharge planning situations
• Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care across the interdisciplinary team
• Assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families
• Identify and address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all patients and staff
• Participate in performance improvement activities and unit goal development
• Attend relevant education programs and identify personal learning needs
• Apply patient education materials appropriate to the patient population and their readiness to learn

You will work within nursing standards, policies, and procedures. Up to 48 hours per week can be accommodated based on unit needs. Your focus will be on delivering quality care, coordinating with the healthcare team, and supporting patients and families through their hospital experience.
