RN - NICU

Job Details:

• 13-week assignment with 4x12-hour night shifts per week
• Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period and every other holiday
• Time off not approved during the first two weeks of assignment or Labor Day weekend
• Maximum of 40 hours of time off per 13-week contract
• Patient ratios: 1:2 days, 2-3 nights and weekends; 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU patients, 1:3 for stepdown patients
• Float required to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery (newborn catcher)
• Care for neonates and infants with diagnoses including extreme prematurity (22 weeks and above), IUGR, RDS, BPD, TTN, PPHN, pneumonia, NEC, sepsis, all cardiac anomalies, neurologic, endocrine, renal, gastrointestinal, skeletal, and genetic anomalies, ROP, NAS, hypoglycemia, jaundice, and failure to thrive
• Full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV highly preferred
• Must have strong hands-on experience with high frequency ventilators, conventional ventilators, iNO, trachs, NIPPV/NIMV, CPAP/BiPAP, IV fluid management including drips, hemodynamic support, post-op care, whole body cooling, admissions, IV placements, lab draws (heel and venous), wound/drain/line care, ostomy care, CVL dressing changes, IV fluid changes, titrating IV fluids, ABG interpretation, and medication calculations
• Assist with intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement and dressing changes, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
• Special equipment includes ECMO, Arctic Sun for whole body cooling of HIE patients, Drager Ventilators, HFOV/HFJV, and bCPAP
• Charting in Epic required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (must be in hand at time of submission), NRP (must be in hand at time of submission), and Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate (may submit with certification pending)
• BSN preferred
• Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted
• Nursys verification required with submission
• References required
