PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Self-scheduling available
• Every other weekend requirement
• 2 major holidays and 2 minor holidays required depending on contract dates
• No standard on-call requirement; standby may be required dependent on fluctuating census
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
• PCT support available at 1 per every 15 patients
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required, no exceptions
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
• Must be proficient in EKG monitoring and able to independently interpret EKG strips
• Must be comfortable titrating drips including cardiac, heparin, Lasix, bumex, and similar medications
• Experience with RT equipment including nasal cannula and BiPap/CPAP for obstructive sleep apnea
• Floating may be required to any telemetry floor
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Navy
• 2-day unit-specific orientation on the floor
• Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance - maximum of 2 attempts allowed with no exceptions
• Pass/fail Simulation Lab on day one of orientation
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, general telemetry, fluid overload, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, and ETOH
