PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You will work as an RN in a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) on the E4 Heart Tower floor at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 3x12 nights position (6:45 PM–7:15 AM) with a 91-day duration, starting June 4, 2026.

Clinical Requirements & Experience

• Prior cardiovascular critical care experience is required; candidates without this will not be considered
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience preferred within the past year (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• CVICU experience preferred

Patient Population & Responsibilities

You will care for a primary patient population of cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies) as well as overflow medical cardiology patients (heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block). Patient ratio is 1:5 per RN.

Your duties include epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucometer monitoring, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine). You will use equipment including Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts. The facility uses Cerner EMR.

Float & Scheduling

You may float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical unit (1:6–7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6) as needed. No on-call responsibilities. Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, day or night) required per 6-week schedule period. Flexibility to work holidays is required.

Certifications & Dress Code

You must hold current ACLS and BLS certifications. Dress code is all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white scrubs.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,102.40.
