Med Surg RN Job in Jackson, MS

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 32-bed Med/Surg Infectious Disease unit at University Hospital in Jackson, MS. This is a 91-day travel contract beginning October 19, 2026, with weekly pay of $1,945.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month required; may increase based on department needs
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Must be available to work 2 major and 2 minor holiday dates during the contract

Clinical Responsibilities

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, up to 1:6 at times, adjusted for higher acuity patients
• Level 1 trauma experience required; experience at a larger facility with high volume surgeries and high acuity patients preferred
• Must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes
• Titration of heparin drips required; may start amiodarone prior to patient transfer to cardiac unit
• Float requirement within skillset across all Med/Surg units; higher acuity patients assigned to core staff

Unit Features

• All units have telemetry capability; central monitor station communicates with RN
• Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen
• Electronic health record charting system: EPIC

Requirements and Certifications

• Current RN licensure
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• BSN not required

Onboarding

Orientation includes paperwork, system logins for Omnicell and EPIC, unit tour, and 2 additional shifts with a preceptor. Scrubs must be solid and professional in appearance.
