ICU Registered Nurse Job in Crescent City, CA

Sutter Health Coast Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its ICU in Crescent City, California. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts at $1,945 per week.

Role Overview

You will work in a 6-bed, 9-room ICU unit serving a daily census of 4–6 patients. Your primary assignment will maintain a 1:2 patient ratio on nights. You may be asked to float to the Emergency Room or, as a last resort, Medical/Surgical units where ratios are 1:4–5. You will care for patients across all age groups, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current California RN License
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system

Core Competencies

You will manage arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines. You will provide care for ventilated patients, including ventilator management, suctioning (endotracheal and nasotracheal), and high-flow nasal cannula support. Additional skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation and paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, CVA and acute stroke management, CVVHD and CRRT, hemodialysis, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, ABG interpretation, IV insulin protocols, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, hypothermia protocol and Arctic Sun operation, emergency medication administration, procedural sedation, phlebotomy, and isolation precautions.

Support and Scheduling

The unit offers interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and a unit secretary. Scheduling includes every-other-weekend requirements with on-call and call-off flexibility based on census.
