PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is an opportunity to provide intermediate-level care in a fast-paced observation unit setting with high admission and discharge volume.

Assignment Details

• Location: Wausau, WI
• Shift: 3x12 hours (nights), 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Duration: 13 weeks, starting July 6, 2026
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required

Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ratio of 1:4 on an 8-bed unit with 2 RNs per shift
• Float to inpatient units as needed
• Care for observation unit patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-op, urology, and GI disorders
• Administer and manage drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• Read and interpret EKG strips; EKG exam required during compliance
• Manage average patient stays of up to 48 hours with high-volume admissions and discharges

Requirements

• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (ARC or AHA)
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing
• Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• Background in observation units or step-down Med-Surg/Telemetry units
• EPIC charting experience required

Compensation and Benefits

• Weekly pay: $2,402.64

Travelers must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility. Any color scrubs are permitted.
