RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Night shift position with every other weekend requirement
• 12-hour shifts scheduled 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedules made 4 weeks in advance with some self-scheduling subject to manager review and balancing
• 4 weekend shifts per pay period required; weekend nights are Friday/Saturday and day weekends are Saturday/Sunday
• Winter holiday requirements include 1 holiday and an eve of another holiday
• Low census call possible, approximately 1 time per 6 weeks; no scheduled call
• First to float; may float to PCU, MST, and EC ICU/PCU per staff rotations
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU per acuity/staffing; PCU 1:3-4
• Care for patients with diagnoses including COVID requiring manual proning, low-level neuro, EVD, DKA, sepsis, ARF, CRRT, rhabdomyolysis, post MI, detox, chest tubes, arterial lines, SWAN, Impella, TAVR, cardiac surgical, VAD devices, STEMI, PCI, CEA, and IABP
• Travelers with open heart experience may take fresh open heart patients following skills verification
• Required to titrate critical care drips including pressors (levophed), paralytics, sedation (propofol), anti-arrhythmics, dopamine, heparin, and argatroban
• Must be able to interpret ABGs and read own telemetry strips on Nihon Kohden monitors
• Must be proficient in weaning and troubleshooting ventilators; familiarity with Glidescopes required
• RT equipment includes vents, BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and Vapotherm
• Preferred experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT; strong EKG reading skills required
• Skills checklist should include EVD, chest tubes, arterial lines, and SWAN (3-4 items preferred)
• Charting system: Cerner
• Acute care setting
• BSN not required
• Dysrhythmia exam must be taken and passed with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to signing contract
• Scrub color: any color professional scrub (no camouflage); transitioning to navy scrubs in October
• Orientation includes 8 hours of general hospital orientation followed by one 12-hour precepted shift and one 12-hour shift with a buddy; additional orientation provided for specialized skills such as open heart surgery or CRRT
• Cancellation policy: 4 shifts per contract; 3 shifts if contract is under 13 weeks
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
