About this role

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Sutter Health Alta Bates Summit Medical Center Hawthorne, a 16–20 bed unit serving an adult patient population. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 27, 2026, on a 4x8 evening shift schedule at $2,121.29 per week.

Requirements:

  • Current California RN License
  • 3+ years of RN ICU experience
  • 6 months of travel healthcare experience
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Epic charting system experience
  • 2:1 patient ratio experience
  • Community hospital experience preferred

Role Details:

You will manage a 2:1 patient ratio in a dynamic ICU environment. Every other weekend is required, plus additional weekends based on unit need. On-call availability is required as needed. You may float to other units within scope of practice, including Ashby or Herrick Campus, with approximately 1.5 hours notice prior to shift start. A shuttle is available when floating is requested.

Clinical Skills:

You will demonstrate competency in arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, ventilated patient care, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, emergency medications, high flow nasal cannula, arterial blood gas interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions and PPE, IV insulin protocols, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, PICC line management, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, endotracheal and nasotracheal suctioning, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips and ventilators.

Special Procedures and Equipment:

The unit manages open heart, VATS, thoracotomy, TAVR, and ECMO cases. You will work with NXT Stage CRRT, EKOS, ventilators, IABP, and Impella equipment.

Support:

Interdisciplinary resources include physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretarial support.
