ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Every other weekend required, plus additional weekends based on unit need
• On-call required as needed
• 3+ years of RN ICU experience required
• 6 months of travel experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Valid California RN License required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• 2:1 patient ratio experience required
• Treats adult patient population
• Unit census of 16–20 patients with 24 beds
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including Ashby or Herrick Campus based on unit need or census
• Travelers expected to be flexible with floating to different campuses or within the hospital; notice of approximately 1.5 hours prior to shift start is provided in most cases; shuttle available when floating is requested
• Required skills include: arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, emergency medications, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, suctioning (ETT, NT), titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, and more
• Special procedures include: open heart, VATS, thoracotomy, TAVR, and ECMO
• Special equipment used includes: NXT Stage CRRT, EKOS, ventilator, IABP, and Impella
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
