ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• BSN required
• Valid California RN License required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
• Every other weekend requirement
• On call/call off based on census
• Patient ratios of 2:1 for both days and nights
• Possibility to float to ER or Med/Surg (floating to Med/Surg will be last resort; must be comfortable with 1:4-5 nurse/patient ratios when floating)
• Charting system experience required - Epic
• Treats patients across age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Daily census of 4-6 patients in a 6-bed unit with 9 rooms
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, CVA/acute stroke management, CVVHD/CRRT, emergency medications, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, phlebotomy, PICC line management, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, suctioning (ETT, NT), titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, and hemodialysis
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary
