CVICU RN Job in San Antonio, TX

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. This is a 13-week contract position offering hands-on critical care nursing in a specialized cardiac environment.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Three shifts per week
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Rotating weekend schedule required
• No on-call requirements

Clinical Responsibilities

You will provide direct patient care to post-operative and critical cardiac patients, including those recovering from CABG, VAD placement, and cardiac catheterization. Your daily work involves hemodynamic monitoring with Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines, ventilator management, and care of patients on advanced cardiac support devices including IABP, Impella, and ECMO.

Required Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications
• Training and competency on CVICU devices to support cardiovascular cases
• Strong hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and critical thinking skills

Preferred Skills

• IABP exposure
• CRRT experience
• Meditech charting and order entry proficiency

Compensation and Documentation

You will receive $1,791 per week. The facility uses Meditech for all documentation and electronic charting.

Facility Expectations

Methodist Hospital requires all travelers to adhere to dress code standards: navy scrub top and pants with navy or white scrub jacket. Nails must be clean and healthy. Hair should be neat and clean without extreme styles or colors; beards, mustaches, and sideburns must be neatly trimmed. Body art should be covered when possible, and visible piercings other than ear piercings are prohibited. You will badge in and out for each shift, take a full 30-minute lunch break, and must clock in by 6:38 AM or PM (after 6:45 is considered tardy). You are required to float per the facility's floating policy.
