Med Surg RN Job in Brownwood, TX

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical-Surgical unit at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026, with 3x12-hour day shifts at $1,980 weekly.

The Role

You'll care for adult and geriatric patients on a 13-bed unit with a 5:1 patient ratio. Daily census ranges from 10 to 13 patients. Patient diagnoses include post-op, orthopedic, diabetes, pneumonia, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, and urology cases. This unit does not include telemetry monitoring or cardiovascular drips.

Schedule & Expectations

• 12-hour shifts available on days and nights
• 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday and Sunday)
• On-call requirement of one shift per 6-week schedule
• 40-hour orientation period

Required Credentials & Experience

• Active Texas nursing license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years Med Surg experience
• Travel healthcare experience required
• 5:1 patient ratio experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications

Required Clinical Skills

You'll manage ports, BiPAP/CPAP, blood products, central line blood draws, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, feeding tubes, heparin administration, high-flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, ABG interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry, total joint replacement care, wound care/wound vacs, and rapid response/code teams.

Support & Resources

You'll work with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.

• Community hospital experience
• Altera/Allscripts charting experience
