Telemetry RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center South is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry position in Abilene, TX. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12 shifts on days. You will earn $2,035 weekly.

Position Overview

You will work on a 16-bed Telemetry unit with a daily census of 11, managing adult and geriatric patient populations. Patient ratios are 1:5 across days, nights, and weekends. The unit primarily treats med-surg diagnoses including TIA/CVA patients and those with peripheral catheters. The facility does not accept cardiac patients such as ACS, NSTEMI, cardiac-related elevated troponins, cardiac interventions, or those requiring cardiac or insulin drips.

Scheduling and Support

Self-scheduling is available with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. You may float between South and North campus as needed. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Central line care and management
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• High-flow nasal cannula
• Tracheostomy care and management
• Wound care and wound vac management
• Med-surg telemetry competencies

Equipment and Systems

You will use Alaris IV pumps, Sara Steady and Hoyer lift equipment, and tele-neuro/tele-psych cameras. Altera charting system experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

• Active RN license in hand with submittal
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• 2 years of experience in the service line
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Certification verification required
