PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Up to 26 weeks available by request on the Neuro PCU unit
• Neuro experience required to be considered
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Block scheduling accommodated with all requests submitted at time of submission
• Patient population: Adult patients with neurological conditions
• Patient ratio: 1:4-5 (must be comfortable with 1:5 ratio)
• Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
• Care includes neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
• Required to float to units within clinical skillset
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required clinical skills: Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Rapid Response/Code team participation, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, medication administration, cardiac drips (no titration), respiratory support including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Telemetry and PCU/stepdown experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
