ICU Registered Nurse Job in Columbia, SC

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Prisma Health Baptist LTACH Hospital in Columbia, SC. This is a night shift position within a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital setting, where you will provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics age 18 and older.

Schedule and Duration

• 4x12 night shifts (40 hours per week)
• Monday through Friday primary schedule
• On-call required after 5:00 PM daily and on weekends, supported by primary and backup call coverage
• Weekend coverage managed through a rotating call schedule among 6 to 8 staff members
• Contract length: 91 days
• Start date: September 28, 2026

Role Responsibilities

You will staff a 12-bed ICU unit and may float to a 35-bed Med-Surg unit as needed, with a 1:5 patient ratio on Med-Surg. The unit serves patients requiring vent weaning, wound care management, spinal cord injury recovery, and tracheostomy/PEG management, with a typical daily census of 35 patients.

Required Clinical Skills

• Arterial line management and central line care
• IV vasopressors and continuous IV sedation administration
• Mechanical ventilation modes and weaning protocols
• Tracheostomy care and management
• Chest tube management
• Complex wound care
• Dysrhythmia interpretation
• Stroke scale assessment
• Insulin drip titration

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience
• Neurology experience required
• 1 year minimum with Epic EMR
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications

Preferred Qualifications

• LTAC experience
• Charge nurse experience
• Community hospital experience

Compensation
