PCU Registered Nurse Job in Columbia, SC

Prisma Health Richland Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 41-bed Progressive Care Unit. You will work a 3x12 night shift schedule with self-scheduling flexibility, earning $2,028 weekly. This 91-day travel assignment begins November 16, 2026.

Unit Overview

You will care for hemodynamically stable adult and geriatric patients recovering from traumatic injuries, including gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls. The unit maintains a patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed. Telemetry monitoring is available for up to 14 patients on the unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a trauma/telemetry progressive care unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry
• Manage central lines and PICC lines
• Administer blood products and manage heparin protocols
• Perform wound care and operate wound vacs
• Provide tracheostomy and chest tube care
• Support patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
• Manage PCA pumps and perform phlebotomy as needed
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams
• Float to other units or campuses based on census needs

Requirements

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience; 2+ years required for first-time travelers
• Minimum 1 year Epic EMR experience
• Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred
• Pass medication test prior to assignment

Schedule & Support

Work a 36-hour week with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. An interdisciplinary team including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Unit Secretaries supports your care delivery.
