Med Surg RN Job in Big Spring, TX

Shannon Medical Center - Big Spring is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg to join our 10-bed unit. You will care for patients across multiple age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics on a 36/48 hour alternating block schedule working 3x12 hour night shifts. Weekend coverage is required.

Role Details:

• Patient ratio of 5:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Unit operates with a daily census of 8 patients
• 36/48 hour alternating block scheduling with night shift hours
• Weekend coverage required

Support & Resources:

• Interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; prior travel experience preferred
• Accessing and managing ports
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration, heparin, insulin
• Isolation precautions and PPE
• Cardiac drips and vasoactive drips (non-titration)
• Med/Surg and telemetry
• Nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• PCA and peripheral line care/management
• Phlebotomy, IV insertion and maintenance
• Rapid response and code team participation

Required Certifications & Licenses:

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Texas nursing license required and must be in-hand at time of submission
• Nursys verification required with submission

Assignment Details:

• Duration: 91 days
• Start date: November 2, 2026
• Weekly pay: $1,995.84
