Job Details:

• Perform laboratory tests accurately and in a timely fashion following established guidelines and physician orders
• Report all tests in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
• Perform, record, and analyze quality control data to make judgments concerning results and take appropriate corrective action to maintain accuracy and precision
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory agencies and organizational policies
• Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiate corrective action
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, and analyze and correct problems using scientific principles
• Operate instruments using established protocols and quality control checks; perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instruments
• Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test analyses and notify appropriate supervisors when needed
• Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from acceptable laboratory guidelines
• Evaluate new testing methodology and contribute to writing technical laboratory procedures
• Maintain clinical competency and current professional knowledge through relevant training and continuing education
• Associates degree in Medical Technology, a related field in science, or equivalent experience required
• Certification by ASCP or AMT preferred
• Knowledge of all areas of the laboratory required
• Knowledge of computerized document systems preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment
